Electric Power
The Fredericksburg Region is serviced by Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, and Dominion Energy. Electric Rates available from REC Electric Rates available from Dominion Energy
Natural Gas
The region’s natural gas is supplied by Columbia Gas of Virginia. Dominion Energy offers a cost effective modular Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) that can be establish on or near any site.
Road Infrastructure
Interstate 95, the East Coast’s main north-south corridor, runs right through the Region, providing connections to twelve other interstate highways. The Region is strategically located to serve markets all up and down the East Coast — in fact, more than 60% of the nation’s population lives within 750 miles of here. Located on the eastern side of the Region is U.S. 301, which serves as an alternative to I95 and U.S. 1. U.S. 301 is connected to I95 by state route 207 and passes through Caroline and King George Counties, as well as Fort A.P. Hill and Naval Support Facility Dahlgren.
Regional Road Improvements:
The I95 corridor will be undergoing drastic improvements in our region from 2018 to 2024. EZ Pass lanes or Express lanes will be extended further into in the region reaching the southern most point of Stafford County, with plans to extend down to the center of Region into the City of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County. In addition, a new southbound Rappahannock River Crossing lane will be constructed as well as a lane for local residents.
U.S. 301 Improvements
Governor Harry Nice Bridge replacement is planned to be constructed by the Maryland Transportation Authority. The Harry Nice Bridge carries U.S. 301 over the Potomac River into Southern Maryland. Construction begins in 2020 and schedule to reopen the new bridge by 2023.
Rail
A total of 62 miles of CSX rail lines flow through the Fredericksburg Region. A rail yard is located in the City of Fredericksburg and 25 miles of CSX track are in the counties of Caroline and Stafford, 10 miles of CSX track are in Spotsylvania County, and 2 miles of track in King George County. CSX services 14 different industries in our Region.
The Fredericksburg Region has a excellent commuter rail system with four Virginia Railway Express (VRE) stations located in the region and a Amtrak station in Downtown Fredericksburg. These stations primarily run Monday thru Friday transporting commuters to and from their jobs in Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia.

Stafford Regional Airport Opened in the Fall of 2001, and provides quality air travel service with a 5,000-ft. by 100-ft. runway with full parallel taxiways , and a 37-acre paved aircraft parking apron. The airport is currently in 1,000-foot runway lengthening project.
The airport is equipped with, Jet-A, and Avgas fuel storage facilities, and is a state-of-the-art transportation hub. Some of the facilities are available for lease development for aviation related business facilities.
Shannon Airport, located in Spotsylvania County, provides general aviation and recreational access within 5 minutes of downtown Fredericksburg. Shannon Airport’s runway is approximately 2,999ft.
